The Gov Bus service is provided by The Governors Bay Community Transport Trust, a not for profit charitable trust set up to benefit the Governors Bay community. The Trust owns an 8 seater (including the driver) mini bus and 5 seater (including the driver) car, that provide a community service from Governors Bay to Christchurch and return.
You must book your seat by 7.00pm the day before departure.
The bus will only travel if there are bookings for the service.

Gov Bus service is provided by volunteer drivers from the Governors Bay community. All drivers hold a current NZ licence, have been vetted by the Police and have an assurance from their medical practitioner that they are medically fit to drive.
GovBus has a safe driving policy.
Drivers will use their discretion with regard to embarking on a journey if they believe road conditions are unsafe.
We now have a transport Services Licence and our vehicles are available to individuals or groups within the community who wish to hire the van, provided it is outside the normal commuter times of 9-00am to 6-00pm, Monday to Friday. You will need to provide your own driver. Bookings are to be made through the booking line. A rental agreement will need to be signed before hire.
Without volunteer drivers our community public transport service will not be possible. If you can volunteer to drive for half a day a week, fortnight or month, or even less, please let us know. Contact Jeanette on the bus line 021 199 0922. It’s a great way to meet the locals and give something back to the community.
